We are back to talking about baby potty. But this time there are no (or a few) diapers. Elimination communication is about learning your baby’s cues and timing to help teach him that a potty is where he should pee and poo. It also goes by the names of infant potty training, natural infant hygiene and diaper free baby. In essence, you will have a baby who does not wear diapers (for some or all the time) and instead will be relieving himself in the potty or the loo. This makes baby raising a much cleaner, respectful and also so good for the environment. Continue reading

My school memories are hazy. When I look back, I visualise a teacher shouting, screaming, hitting children on their knuckles with an orange wooden foot ruler. I see hair pulling and slapping. I see books being flung across the classroom. Child discipline was traumatising. The environment at home was less gruesome, but we did receive some form of corporal punishment. Most of our generation did.
Parents don’t want this for their child. They don’t want to coerce their child into doing the right things. They know that a positive and gentle way of being firm with kids yields better results. Continue reading
One of the first eye-popping parenting moments for me was when I discovered cloth diapers. I knew I didn’t want to use a chemical laden plastic diaper. However I did not know of an alternative. When I chanced upon the cloth diapering world and discovered that a cloth diaper is made of safe cloth and is still efficient enough to hold for long hours without making baby feel wet, I was sold. There’s a scary new word doing the rounds these days in Parenting circles. That word is baby led weaning. It also creeps up in conversations in the form of the acronym BLW. It spreads utter confusion in the minds of eager new parents who know they want their children to be good consumers of green, red, yellow, purple looking fruit and vegetables. Fussy eaters, hell no. We want our babies to be anything but that. Continue reading
It is a wonderful coincidence that the April #AtoZBloggingChallenge begins with this post on Attachment Parenting. The Attachment Parenting style is somewhere a very comprehensive approach to parenting. It encompasses everything right from pregnancy to raising a child. In that sense, it truly is the beginning of everything. Many sub-concepts are derived from this broad theme of Attachment Parenting. But first, is Attachment Parenting truly a new-age phenomenon?
We recently re-started our subscription to a daily newspaper. We had stopped the subscription close to 2 years ago because babyT was then crawling and mouthing everything in his sight. We did not want to feed him a diet rich in lead and mostly bad news. But of late we felt we truly lacked an awareness of what was happening in the world, even if it was the bad stuff. Social conversations usually started with “What, didn’t you know that?” So the paper guy was stalked every morning, till we caught hold of him and told him to drop a paper for us too.
One day I happened to wake up half an hour earlier than the rest of the family. Continue reading
Right from 30th April 2017, I have been waiting for this moment. For another year to dawn and for it to be April again. And now this just got real. April is almost upon us and it brings with it the annual blogging challenge of writing from A to Z. And now its time to put on our thinking caps, clean out the nibs and fill the pens with ink, prettify the writing desk, suck in some fresh air and hopefully some inspiration and just write. Continue reading
I so look forward to Mondays. Weekends I dread. Sounds strange right? Well, I am a Stay-at-home/ work-from-home mom who loves the routine i have set for myself and baby and the household. Weekends are when I have 2 babies in the house – 1 the actual babyT and the other my big and first baby: my husband.
The first weekend of April exactly 3 years ago was when something big and new happened in our lives. We conceived and learned that we were going to be parents soon. April is also our wedding anniversary month. April has always been our new professional year. April sees us setting our financial and personal goals rather than the conventional 1st of January. In short, April has always been big. Continue reading
