Cherishing these moments of Toddler Breastfeeding

I honestly did not think about how long I would be breastfeeding babyT before we started. But now that we are still at it at 20 months, it seems like the most natural thing to do. He is still my baby and I am still feeding him valuable nutrition.

Toddler breastfeeding has its own dynamics and every day can still spring surprises. Feeling like you are “feeding a new-born” is common even after the child has turned, say 15 or 18 months.  Toddler Breastfeeding is still about providing valuable nutrition to the child, as much as it is about providing comfort, soothing and helps tide through the necessary ills of development spurts, teething, viral, etc. But breastfeeding is a boon at these times. Nothing can pacify a confused, cranky toddler like the mother’s breast can. Selfish or lazy, you say? Well, no. I call it my superpower.

I agree! breastfeeding a toddler makes you feel empowered in the same way as BF a newborn. And yes, it does provide them with a lot of nutrition

I feel so great when i think that we women has the power of breastfeeding their child and not men has. God make us powerful. And this breastmilk is best and benefiacial than any other food available for babies. It is the first and powerful bond between mom and baby. Your picture shows that how happy and comfortable you feel while giving feed to your child.

Great article. Toddler feeding has been a saviour on many occasions…teething, vaccinations, illnesses. I hope I can continue nursing for as long as he needs it.

You are my breastfeeding inspiration! I have said this before but it was because of you that I felt less embarrassed about breastfeeding a toddler and was able to take a stand against though who kept making me feel I have made a mistake by not weaning Karma off ‘in time’. After your posts, I have gained confidence and comfort in my choice. And you were the primary inspiration behind me sharing my first ever breastfeeding photo and post on Instagram last week. Love you Tara! 🙂

I never got the opportunity to practice extended breastfeeding as my daughter herself left it quite early. However, I can see the benefits and how useful it is.Loved the fact that breastfeeding is soothing as well for the baby.
